I can't detect any differences. Likewise I sometime shoot 1 oz. 12 gauge reloads, instead of 1-1/8 oz., and see only a very minor difference. If your son cant hold it up he's probably too small to shoot. I'm not being rude but most coaches will tell you his size needs to be enough to hold the gun own their own.
