I've always shot 100 grains BH209. After hunting with a 45/70 and absolutely pummeling deer in the woods with a 405 grain Core Lokt going 1330 FPS, I'm starting to rethink my Blackhorn loads. Im going to be ordering either a Thumbhole V2 or a MR soon and might work up some 80-90 grain loads...My experiences: Triple 7 is easier to clean after returning home, and preparing the rifle for the closet. Blackhorn is easier to clean between shots; none required. Seems like Blackhorn actually lubricates the barrel for easier reloading. The two flasks and measure I had used successfully for years with black powder, Pyrodex, and Triple 7 did not flow the BH 209 well needing to be reopened over and over, shook, etc. Because of that I went with pre measured by weight but thrown via my smokeless powder measure put in to tubes.
