I thought I'd share this in case someone else encounters the same problem. I have a 2002 Odyssey EX-L RES with 64,000 miles. The D4 light began blinking while driving normally. No abnormal noises or driving problems. No other lights came on (CEL). The owners manual says blinking D4 could indicate transmission problem.

That isn’t the issue. I believe it’s the transmission throwing a fault and the fix would be the software update from the dealer.
