I would probably start by checking the valve lash and checking for any air leaks. Then I might move to the carb if you are still having problems.

My Honda's have been very very reliable. My King Quad is a 2007 and it is going strong!!! Look at Honda and buy with confidence if you go King Quad.

Mine on the other hand flashes between 2wd & 4wd. If the Suzuki is anything like the prairie. Checked oil and was about quart low - IE nothing on the dipstick. I checked it last season and it was fine. She still cranks fine. I fixed a similar sounding problem a few years ago on my 2007 King 700. The fix was (as found on this forum) to add an additional ground cable from the negative battery terminal to the frame.
