However, in my opinion, the opening/closing latch on the Optima V2 is a way more better than the latch on the Wolf. My choice would be the Optima V2, because of the latch mechanism.So far in both my CVA Optima V2 and my son's Wolf we've shot both Harvester crush rib & smooth black sabots, T/C Superglide sabots, Hornady sabots that come with SST hi-speed low drag, and Hornady .44/.50 & .45/.50 sabots. All have shot well from both rifles. I think they've got a great marketing campaign, but after using an Optima V2 for several seasons since 2018, I am unimpressed. Biggest issue I've with mine is, I think, the hammer sear. Randomly doesn't ****, hammer won't engage. Clean or dirty, doesnt matter.

I have an optima v2 with the nitride barrel. It came with iron sights, but was drilled and and tapped for a scope mount. I would go that route and get a better scope than one in the package deal. This was my first muzzy so can’t compare to others, but absolutely zero complaints on the optima.

The CVA rifles are not real load picky and will shoot a variety of loads accurately. The Optima trigger is not adjustable but it is a very good trigger and breaks clean and smooth. This is a great little entry ML but if you have the extra money I would buy either the Optima, Accura V2 or MR (Mountain Rifle). BUT .... the CVA Wolf is still a great ML with a very good price point. I will be upgrading in the fall of 2015 - maybe this year if I sell my Wolf. One more thing which is just as important as the ML.

Parts of the trigger assembly are plastic. The breech plug is no where near as good as the CVA BH209 plug and seals worse that either QRBP. Upper end CVAs have adjustable triggers too. Traditions offers nothing that competes well against a Optima V2 for under $300. You get less for your money. Well that settles it!
