4020 Powershift - Shifting Issue. I have a 1966 4020 Powershift, lot of hours but fairly well taken care of. Shifts into reverse fine ---- when switching to forward it wants to miss. I have to shift back to reverse and then back to forward to get it to hit. I push the starter button and I hear the starter motor turning but the bendix does not engage the flywheel... or it is every so slightly engaging that it doesn't even sound like it's grinding.

Aug 2, 2011 · The 4010 and VERY early (IIRC, pre-'65) 4020 tractors DO have a 3rd reverse. The later early models and on only have 2 reverse gears that are sped up. The the early ones, 1st reverse is the same speed as 3rd forward, 2nd reverse is like 5th and 3rd reverse is like 7th. So, 3rd reverse is 12mph. Great for plowing snow. :rock.

You can open that panel by the removal of the 3/8 cap screw at the bottom and all of your switch wiring is in there. It has the two metal fuel filters. loosen the bleed screw on the bottom one, pump the lever on the back side of the fuel pump until fuel starts to run out, close it and open the one on the top filter.Hello all, Have a problem with my 4020. Recently, after trying to start the tractor I noted the starter ran on after I released the key from the start position. The only way to stop the starter from turning was to removed the left battery terminal which resulted in a large spark.

Remove the screw, install a plastic line on the fitting and start the tractor. Turn the steering wheel to the RH stop position and open the fitting slowly. Let oil bleed out the line until no bubbles are present then tighten the fitting. Be careful as the steering wheel may jump after the bubbles are gone. Recheck the steering.
