Heavy hull @ 1600 lbs naked with a 17* deadrise, draft is definately not microskiffish-say 12" loaded. It was solid and dry for a 16' but not fishing friendly.To cut the foam I used a long razor knife with a sheet of ply wood clamped over the foam to use as a straight edge. Pulling the knife with a slight angle toward the board kept directly on the line. I may redo the first section I started near the transom, not super happy with how it turned out.Parkerskimmer. Like I have had 4 people fishing on the boat and still able to walk the rails no problem. However having no under gunnel storage for rods drove me crazy.

They are meant for quick, shorter cast with heavier lines (sinking heads) and to turn over big bass flies. 7'11" is the maximum length allowed for rods in bass tournaments, so that is the reason for that length. The BTV will be a little more stable and pole a little better maybe, but the Marauesa will be faster, ride a lot better, and dryer. The Vantage will ride better, but the Marsuesa will pole better and float shallower. I picked up the Salt Marsh Heron 18 this week and have a similar issue with the top of the 115 motor hitting the poling platform, even with the jackplate fully down. Seems to be able to tilt plenty enough though. Next time around I'll go with your suggestion.

Thats depends on hull a little. Horizontal allows for curves in the hull should you choose to adjust brackets and allow that. Either way weight is right where the brackets are so vert or hor works. A real heavy boat perhaps vert allows a little more support from bunks between brackets but still transferring to brackets.
