It does have a LOT of proprietary parts, including upper, lower, bolt carrier group, buffer tube, etc. My understanding is that they get there by moving back the trigger group, which messes with quite a bit.POF makes innovative stuff that looks very cool. My experience has found that POF quality is sometimes lacking and they don't really stand behind their products. I'd definitely go with the Ruger. I personally believe the 716I is the best rifle you can buy for the money in the AR-308/AR-10 Battle Rifle category. I think the 716I can perform alongside its older sibling, the 716 G1 & G2 Piston guns probably to the surprise of many.
