Sounds like the barrel is the same length as a German K98k. I don't know if the Yugoslavs made new barrels in the K98k length, or just scrubbed all markings from a serviceable German made barrel. If the receiver has the same serial number as under barrel on the left front side of ring with the bu or bugn proofs then Mauser firm could have reused a sporter inventory action destined for the gunsmith trade as these actions in most cases had the serial number under action etc.
