Thanks for the replies! The rifle in question is a 338MX. I couldn't see any REP stamp or Remington proof marks on the barrel. The barrel looks to be 100% JM Marlin, and the receiver looks to be 100% Remington.I have a Marlin 1894, 1970 centenial with brass saddle ring. Serial # 70 35XXXX, JM stamp on the barrel. Small brass medialion on the stock with 1870-1970 . The gun is 85-90% condition. I have looked at several gun blue book values and I am getting mixed info. One book says the saddle rings were produced from 1969-1971.
