I’ve had zero malfunctions with the m4 and a handful with the 1301. The 1301 seems faster. M4 feels tougher. If I could only keep one I would keep the m4. In the end neither are cheap.

Being lighter isn't totally an advantage either. It kicks more, making it less smooth for quick following shots. So, IMHO (if it's worth anything), 1301 is a great shotgun for HD with an excellent value, but it is still not at the same level with M4. M4 is definitely superior, if we ignore the price difference. 4.

Ha! The LE tactical version of the 1301 popped up on my LGS's website this morning. They had one each of the pistol grip and standard stocks. I hadn't seen that version pistol grip before and would have liked to handle it, but I didn't want to take a chance on snooze and lose, so I just bought the standard stock online and will go pick it up later today.
