I agree 100%. The first time I played the tower I got past level 20 easy. Didn't want to spend gems because I had no clue what it was yet. Since that first time, I think level 10 is about the highest I've gotten without hitting a Zomblin. I still refuse to spend gems on it though. These days I just play until I get an egg, or give up.
