Carry max rank 2 and rank 1 pierce, the berries to make pierce 1 and the gunpowder to craft rank 2. You use all of your rank 2, craft more rank 2, craft more rank 1. Repeat till you run out of gunpowder. If you are using Night Owl, even with missing the weakspots 90% of the time the monster will be dead before you run out of both Rank 1 and 2 ...Oh no Malzeno should also be RF p2, unless I was so taken that I didn't notice for the bunch of quests I used it before moving to Shagaru's. The Alatreon Dominator is probably the best Alatreon weapon, and probably piece of equipment from Alatreon too! It can use all 5 elemental ammos, has a lot of rapid fire, is the only LBG in the game with Rapid Fire Dragon Ammo, has a cool design, and is really fun to use, I'd say more than Safi's Aquashot, which says something.Rapid Fire Up is better on Pierce 2s, because you're never going to have ammo issues on a hunt and its the much bigger damage multiplier. Definitely Rapid fire. To clarify the consensus, Rapid Fire Up is a 5%, 10%, 20% damage increase on Rapid Fire ammo, while Spare Shot is a 3%, 10%, 20% chance to not consume ammo.The reason Malzeno's is superior is because of the way Chaotic Gore weapons work. No matter how much affinity you put on your build, you still have a chance of dealing negative crits until you clear the Frenzy - 20% in the case of the LBG. That means until you clear the Frenzy, 20% of your hits of your hits will only deal 3/4 normal damage ... 2.5k LBG uses in MHRS. The sets vary a lot. Try to use pieces that give critical eye like the Risen Teostra pieces. Risen Kushala pieces give Spare Shot and Attack. Valstrax arms give Critical Boost and Attack while Flaming Espinas gives Attack, Spare Shot, and Intrepid Heart too.
Just knowing when to switch to piercing thunder ammo will ensure this. You'll get the most mileage out of Zinogre's LBG for a Rapid Fire slicing build, Nargacuga's LBG for Rapid Fire Pierce 2, and Magnamalo's for a Sticky 3/Slicing or Spread 3 build. My Most Favorite LBG is Nargacuga LBG with Rapid Fire Pierce level 2.
Pierce is good and easy to play, but I have found it not on par with other builds. I have been using La Vertu. Shreds Magnamalo, and things like Bazel and Goss, but struggled with lots of white numbers against everything else. Spread 3 with final boss LBG just wrecks, but I only use it against small guys and Rajang.Pierce LBG Build for V2.0. MHR. Angbata is a good source too for budget builds or rather he does no charm builds. We call those “PC Builds” unless there is a way to make a talisman on switch.

Normal Ammo builds are a lot more easy to understand. Any gun with rpf normal 2 and at least moving shot is great. Best one to use is Daora Hornet, but other options include anything with rpf normal 2.
