Nissan xterra vdc off slip reset.
I have had the slip light coming on and off for years. Finally, the ABS light came on as well. I took it to Nissan to have the code scanned (free), and he told me that a pressure sensor was bad and that the engine wiring harness was bad related to the passenger wheel speed sensor. They quoted me $497 to fix those items.
On Wednesday and again Thursday evening after being parked outdoors at ~30 degrees F for ~9 hours, the car started and the VDC off, ABS, SLIP, and 4WD lights stay lit after 2 seconds. Additionally, the 4WD shift indicator does not show up at all. The PF was in 2WD mode (it's still cold, but dry here!) - switching to AUTO or 4WD has no effect ...ABS, VDC, SLIP Llights All Coming 'ON' - But... The reason all the other lights come on is because the systems are all inter-related. The system sees the Diff Lock indication (even though it really isn't locked), and automatically disables VDC just as if you manually locked the diff. Then when you take a turn the system sees rear wheel slip ...Pull your Xterra to an area where you can drive straight ahead without turning the wheel for a couple hundred feet. Have the wheel straight. Turn off engine. Restart engine and pull straight ahead in drive. Light should go off in a couple hundred feet. The book is not too clear on this.Most generally when all of these lights are on, it is an ABS sensor and 4-wheel will not engage. Even though you may look at it and it looks ok it's really not. To know for sure gently pull on the wires that come off the frame to the wheel up by the plug. It will stretch or break in half if it's bad.

Replaced my cam shaft position sensor on both banks today. The check engine light and the slip light are gone but the VDC OFF light is still there even when I press the VDC button. Does anyone have any ideas? Do I have to clear codes? Ok. It sounds like there is either a problem with one of the cam sensors or the crank sensor. If you have a problem or code for either of these sensors, it will cause the symptoms you have and also the VDC will be disabled. What I suggest doing is first, having the check engine light scanned for codes.Nissan Mechanic: Mechanic01. On that code and could actually be a steering angle sensor reset, if not some electrical tests will need to be done to see what the cause is. At that point it could be a circuit issue or an actual ABS module. It's not supposed to be used off-road. The system that the newer Xterras have that is useful off-road is ABLS, which stands for Active Brake Limited Slip.

Once I got to work I turned the car off and turned it back on again and the lights were off. However, once I started driving again the lights would come back on 20 feet down the road. When I reattached it, the VDC off light is on and won't turn off when I keep pressing the VDC button. SOURCE: My brake, slip and VDC indicators stay on.
